I’m not much of a risk taker; I tend to overthink and over-plan EVERYTHING (that might be an overstatement, but not completely). But when it came to returning to school and getting my master’s, I took the risk of more student debt in hopes of bettering my writing and creating other paths for my career (if I choose to take them). Although this risk was calculated and thought out, it was still a risk nonetheless.
I absolutely love the program I am in, and my poetry is thriving because of the classes. The classes are challenging my work and how I look at each piece I write. Although some might not understand the necessity for higher education for creative writing or the arts, I have found that it has boosted my confidence with my writing and that is priceless for me.
